Google launched Core WebVitals with the first aim of improving the visitor's experience on the website and showing developers empirically what the website needs to be good.

In summary, there are 3 pillars of Core Web Vitals, which are:


PCL: From largest content paint, this metric measures the time the blank page starts to load until it is full and useful. This metric does not consider off-screen content where you need to scroll. This loading needs to happen in less than 2,5 seconds.


IN: From English first input delay, here we measure the response time when interacting with the page, that is, if the website is reactive. For example, when you click a button, something needs to happen. It is very common for websites that fail this metric to leave the user in doubt if they really clicked correctly or if the site stopped responding (hangs). The value of this metric is 0,1 second, that is, after the click, an immediate response is required, such as loading message, button effect, among others.


CLS: From the English cumulative layout shift, the evaluated item is the screen stability when loading. Slow sites that move items around while loading are disapproved of this item. In general, and in the most common situation, if a website image, when loading, drops the content, the website is disapproved. 


Websites are evaluated daily and Google considers the website that meets the above criteria to be approved for 75% of visitors in the last 28 days.


Below we will show the GEOMAQ website (www.geomaq.com.br), where after reformulation, techniques were applied to be inside Core Web Vitals.

After the relaunch, which also involves updating the content, the website increased the number of clicks received from Google searches by 70~100%. The number of visits practically doubled. In addition to this growth, the website also increased the conversion rate by approximately 25%, as a result of the better on-page experience and CTA elements.


The site has almost 80 links and approximately 90% of impressions are based on approved URLs, as shown in the image below:

Among the novelties, the website also started to have impressions on Google's Discover network through pages with AMP technology.
